My Russian Cookbook
Book Design
UNT Advanced Campaigns | Professor Douglas May | Fall 2020
My Russian cookbook has all of the Russian recipes you need to make an authentic meal. Curated by my babushka (grandmother) and mamichka (mom) the only place you need to travel to for genuine Russian cooking is your kitchen.
The cover of My Russian Cookbook depicts multiple illustrations of the flowers you will find inside. The illustrations were created based on the stylized way many Russian illustrations appear by using geometric shapes and fun colors that define each chapter and brighten the page. The typeface also includes Russian representation through the letters in the title as it is stylized just enough to be legible in English.
During this project, I had the opportunity to work with Jesse Chacon at Dick Patrick Studios. He took my photos for me (as seen above) and helped me discover the process of food photography in their studio.
